Pick Origins
Preparing Assets
Assets were created by focus stacking an average of 20 exposures per object, followed by digital reshaping to produce the custom rock forms.
Lighting Adjustments
Each rock asset was individually colour graded using desaturated tones to create a cohesive appearance. Contrast and shadow depth were then enhanced to achieve a more dramatic look that better matched the guitar pick. The guitar pick was also reshaped, the logo repositioned, and dust imperfections removed.
Environment Building
To build the environment, three images were duplicated and combined to create a dust pattern that gradually fades toward the edges. Digital painting was used to create the dust cloud effect behind the four subjects. Rendering techniques such as motion blur were used to simulate motion.
Blackstar Spotlight
Preparing Assets
The picture was captured separately from the background to maximise quality for later duplication. The background texture was also expanded for a wider aspect ratio.
Mastering Lighting
The composition's lighting needed to be mastered. Most notably, a spotlight was created on the subject. Smaller changes include vinyetts attached to both the background and other picks leading to the subject, along with highlight glow effects.
